A family is lucky to be alive but has to find a new place to live after an SUV slammed into their Hallandale Beach home Tuesday morning.

Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said the incident happened at a home in the 200 block of Southwest 11th Street just before 2 a.m.

The SUV lost control and rolled over then went through a fence and crashed into the home, going halfway into the kitchen before catching fire.

Fire rescue crews responded and put out the flames. No one living inside the home was injured, but police said the family had to be relocated because the house was uninhabitable.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to Aventura Hospital as a trauma alert with a severe leg injury according to Hallandale Beach Police.

Police have not released additional information on the case at this time, but said speed may have played a role in the crash.
