A disturbance in the northwestern Caribbean seas has a low chance of developing into a tropical system over the next five days and could keep heavy rain in the South Florida forecast into Memorial Day weekend.

The persistent clouds and showers over Florida and Cuba are associated with this area which has a low chance of formation, the National Hurricane Center said Monday.

Conditions are unfavorable for development but locally it will mean that periods of heavy rain will remain in our forecast through the weekend.
