The Bible says, love thy neighbor. The Archdiocese says, volunteer here.

Attention, immigration attorneys and other advocates: Miami’s Catholic archdiocese is seeking your pro-bono help.

The church organization’s Catholic Legal Services issued a plea Monday for immigration lawyers and other volunteers to staff a May 20 “Mega Citizenship event” at 14 sites in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

The goal of the event is to — at no charge — help legal permanent residents start the process of becoming U.S. citizens. Volunteers must get advanced training.

Interested? Call 305-373-1073 extension 1218, email or sign up at by clicking “Become a Volunteer” and selecting a location.

The lawyers will help people fill out applications and answer questions. The other volunteers will serve as linguists or assist on logistics.
