Three die in wrong-way crash in Boca Raton, Florida Highway Patrol says

Three people died on Interstate-95 early Saturday morning after a driver going the wrong way through an exit ramp crashed into an oncoming car, according to Florida Highway Patrol

FHP identified those who died as Christopher M. Alfeo, 35, of Boynton Beach; Amber C. Reif, 25, of the United Kingdom; and Brenda E. Walker, 57, of Fort Lauderdale. Their families have been notified, officials said.

About 12:55 p.m., Alfeo was driving a 2012 Kia Optima with Reif as a passenger when he began traveling northbound on the southbound exit ramp for Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton, FHP said in a media release. Walker was driving southbound in a 2018 Hyundai Sonata on the exit ramp when the vehicles collided.

Neither Alfeo or Reif were wearing seatbelts during the crash. Walker did have her seatbelt fastened, but her vehicle caught fire.

All three died at the scene, Boca Fire Rescue said.
