Tri-Rail train collides with car in Opa-locka; causing chain reaction

Multiple people were injured after a Tri-Rail commuter train on Opa-locka Boulevard collided with a car.

“The train hit one car, then that car hit another car, and there was a chain reaction,” said Tri-Rail spokeswoman, Bonnie Arnold.

The accident, which involved five cars, happened along the southbound lanes at around 3:40 p.m., Arnold said. The injuries that were sustained were minor.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue is on the scene. It is unclear if anyone was transported to a hospital.

“The tracks have reopened and we don’t anticipate significant delays,” Arnold said.
