Pompano Beach Fire-Rescue said that two children, aged 5 months and 5 years, died in an apartment fire – possibly alone.
Firefighters responded at about 9:30 a.m. to the incident at 1830 N.E. 48th Street. Upon extinguishing the blaze, they found the children’s bodies in a bedroom.
“Pompano Beach Fire Inspectors and State Fire Marshal and are investigating the cause of the fire,” PBFR said in a statement.
Neighbors told NBC 6 that the children lived with their mother, who is separated from the father of the children.
