Some of the mathematically inclined develop complex, probability-based systems for beating lottery games.

Then, you have Little Torch’s Teresa Blanco. She is accused of ripping off $10,000 of lottery tickets from Winn-Dixie.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Big Pine Winn-Dixie store noticed a $13,786 shortage in their lottery inventory. After contacting the sheriff’s office, a corporate employee showed the shortage to the investigating detective as well as a surveillance video. The video, MCSO says, showed Blanco taking $25 scratch-off tickets and paying for $2 and $5 tickets.

Shown the video, the 41-year-old Blanco admitted to taking $10,000 worth of lottery tickets, according to the sheriff’s office. She was charged with one count of grand theft greater than $300 and less than $5,000.
